Summer Novena: from Ignatius to Dominic

There are lots of things going on this summer - here, there, and around the world - and there are a lot of people who need help.

One of the very best things you can do is join in the Novena which runs from July 31, the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, to August 8, the feast of St. Dominic. (Some other big-name feasts are included at no extra charge!)

If you can get to Holy Mass, great. If not, perhaps you can add the five Luminous Mysteries to your daily prayers - or make your own selection.

Do you have a link to the novena?

Thank you for the suggestion/reminder. Ignatius and Dominic are special saints for us, but I never thought of a novena connection.

There isn't a "formal" one like before Pentecost, at least not that I have yet seen. Just "link up" with the Rosary. Another prayer I might recommend is the Litany of the Sacred Heart.

If you wish a special concluding prayer, use the collect ("opening prayer") from either of the book-end feasts:

July 31, St. Ignatius:
O God, Who, to spread the greater glory of Thy name, didst, by means of Blessed Ignatius, strengthen the Church militant with a new army, grant that, with his help, and by his example, we may fight on earth, so as to become worthy to be crowned with him in heaven. Through...

August 8, St. Dominic:
O God, Who has deigned to make Thy Church illustrious by the merits and teaching of Blessed Dominic, Thy Confessor, grant that, through his intercession, she may not be deprived of temporal help, and may always advance in spiritual progress. Through...

Or the one from the votive Mass called

"For any trouble":

"Almighty God, despise not Thy people who cry out in their affliction: but for the glory of Thy name, be appeased and help those in trouble.

Through Jesus Christ Thy Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen."

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
